Travel Guide: Fredericksburg

This weekend I took my mom to Fredericksburg for her birthday & we loved every minute of it! My mom was born & raised in Germany so went for more of a German focused trip. Fredericksburg is known for being a “German town” & it also known for its wineries and breweries. There are so many restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, shops, breweries, & wine bars. Almost everything is located on Main Street except for a couple of restaurants that were on the next street over & some of the major wineries and breweries that are on the way in. Depending on how many breweries and wineries that you want to go to you can make this a day trip or a weekend trip.

Travel Guide to Fredericksburg:

Where to stay: Anywhere on or around Main Street if you want to walk. There we’re a lot of cute cottages on Airbnb but a lot we’re not in walking distance. We stayed over night at the Fredericksburg Inn because it was off of Main Street & in walking distance to everything we mainly wanted to do.

Old German Bakery We went here for Breakfast & I HIGHLY recommend it. The bakery was delicious & had an amazing variety of breads & pastries.

Der Lindenbaum AUTHENTIC German Food (approved by mom). I had the Burgermiester Platte & my mom had the Wiener Schnitzel.

Fredericksburg Brewery The best part of this brewery is that a flight of all their beers was about $12 with such a good variety of beers: blonde ale, red ale, porter, IPA, etc. Not to mention individual samples were only $1.35!

Otto’s German Bistro We went here for Happy Hour/Cake & Coffee but the food looked AMAZING & so did their brunch menu. We had their Cheese & Charcuterie board and Brot und Butter with wine. We also had cake & coffee before we left. The Canbozola Cheesecake was DELICIOUS.

Altdorf Biergarten We only went here to sample beers & for the outside venue but the food looked AMAZING as well.

Auslander This restaurant probably had the best food & biggest variety! My favourite German dish is Rouladen & they we’re the only restaurant who had it. My mom had the Jagerschnitzel & I had the Rouladen and both dishes were delicious! If you’ve ever lived or been to Germany this restaurant was also the only one that felt German as well!
