First week of Whole 30 is done! My first week was kind of rough. By the end of Day 3 & all of Day 4, I had a horrible headache that just wouldn’t go away (side effect of eliminating sugar & fat from your diet). BUT no pain, no gain. I am doing Whole 30 with my best friend (who has done this like five times). It resets your diet so the first couple of days/first week is the toughest. I am by NO means a health, nutrition or food expert. I love alcohol, cheese, PASTA, & cream in my coffee. I tried doing it with her last summer and ended around day 15 because I gave in to temptation (tough day at work = wine) BUT in those 15 days I lost 15 pounds! Whole 30 can be tough, but the results are worth it. Losing weight is a great benefit of Whole 30 & the best part is that the weight you lose STAYS OFF because you eliminate so much “junk” from your diet, you eliminate the taste & cravings for them too. Then once you reintroduce items back into your diet then you may not even want certain items back in your diet or just save it as a treat. You also find REALLY great recipes and products that you want to use all the time & it’s BETTER for you. Even though I ended Whole 30, I still make Whole 30 recipes all the time & still buy Whole 30 compliant items because it’s the same foods, sauces, or condiments that you typically eat with ingredients that are better for you.
For those of you that are interested in doing Whole 30 or are currently/about to do Whole 30, I am going to share my Meal Planner & Wellness Planner each week with everything I ate/found! In my #WHOLE30JANUARY post, I talked about how I just purchased the Whole 30 Slow Cooker Book & the RECIPES ARE AMAZING. It’s the newest book & you can get it at Target or Amazon. I HIGHLY recommend this book especially if you work or have a busy schedule because you can throw every recipe in the slow cooker or Instant Pot! I found a lot of great recipes in there, Pinterest, & on Tessemae’s (has AMAZING Whole 30 Approved products) website.
Planning
There is a lot of planning involved when it comes to meals & planning time to go to the grocery store. You eliminate so much out of your diet that if you forget to bring lunch to work or don’t eat before you run errands it’ll be hard to find compliant meals at restaurants/fast food places. It can also be tough thinking of new things to eat if you don’t want to eat the same thing every day. I personally take one day of the week to meal plan & prep if needed. On the days I meal plan, I will find all the meals that I want to make for the week and write down all of the ingredients that I need in my Erin Condren Meal Planner & take that with me to the grocery store so I make sure I get everything I need at the store and for every recipe. That way I have everything I need for the week & just need to cook or prep the food. I also use the Erin Condren Wellness Log to plan meals, track water intake, track steps, make goals, & note anything occurring during Whole 30 (like headaches, energy information, or non scale victories). I keep both in my On The Go Folio to take it with me to grocery shop.
