#Whole30January

As I shared in my New Year’s Resolutions post, I am focusing on wellness in 2019. To start the year off I am doing Whole 30. Whole 30 is an elimination diet that emphasizes whole foods and eliminates: sugar, alcohol, grains, legumes, soy, and dairy. You can read more about Whole 30 here. If you are interested in doing Whole 30 or are currently doing Whole 30 then I am sharing some tips & some of my favourites:

Overview

Whole 30 is a “reset.” Whole 30 can help improve energy levels, sleep, focus, mental clarity, healthy digestive functions, and improve athletic performance. What you eat: meat, seafood, eggs, fruit, vegetables, & healthy fats. Do not consume/eat: added sugar or any kind: real or artificial, alcohol, grains, legumes, or dairy.

Books

You don’t have to buy the books to do Whole 30 technically. Between the Whole 30 website & Pinterest you can learn a lot about Whole 30 & find recipes. However, I personally love having the Whole 30 Book. It has a lot of important information about the program, what to expect, reintroduction, kitchen essentials, cooking fundamentals, shopping lists, cooking information, & recipes for everything from meals to sides to sauces. I just recently bought the Whole 30 Slow Cooker Book & I LOVE it. There are so many great recipes with Instant Pot options. I love using my Instant Pot & love that I can throw full meals together!

Meal Planning

Meal planning and meal prepping is probably the most important thing when it comes to Whole 30. I use the Erin Condren Meal Planner to plan my meals and grocery lists. Before grocery shopping, I will select and plan the recipes for the week. Then write down all of the groceries that I will need for each recipe. I am also using the Erin Condren Wellness Log to track wellness goal setting, track water intake, steps/workouts, and tracking meals & snacks.

Favourites

I grocery shop at HEB (Texas Grocery Store), Whole Foods, & Target for Whole 30 as well as order a lot of things from Amazon. My List of Whole 30 Approved Favourites:

  • Tessemae’s I LOVE Tessemae, I buy these products even when I don’t diet because they’re all so good! I love the Lemon Garlic for chicken, Zesty Ranch for a marinade or salad, Creamy Ranch for a dip, Buffalo Sauce for wings, BBQ sauce, Ketchup, Dijon Mustard, Habanero Ranch, & Slow Roasted Garlic Spread as a sub for minced garlic in recipes. Tessemae’s website also has REALLY good recipes for their products that I highly recommend checking out!
  • RX Bars: Chocolate Chip is my FAVOURITE, Coffee Chocolate, Chocolate Hazelnut, Blueberry, & Mixed Berry.
  • RX Nut Butter: Almond Butter I like using the packets with apples & celery. I also linked Justin’s Almond Butter which I used before RX’s new Almond Butter! Both are delicious.
  • Lara Bars: Upside-down Pineapple, Pecan Pie, Apple Pie, Cashew Cookie, & Cherry Pie.
  • Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil, Acovado Oil Mayo, Italian Vinaigrette, Spicy Brown Mustard, Garlic Aioli Mayo, & Steak Sauce.
  • Pederson’s WHOLE 30 APPROVED BACON & SAUSAGE! Real bacon, not Turkey Bacon & the best part is that they have a Whole 30 logo on it!
  • Bonafide Bone Broth
